Porn's

Porn’s – an authentic Thai restaurant owned by Singapore Mediacorp Artiste Pornsak Prajakwit and his partner Ex-Mediacorp producer Foo Tuan How.

Defined as “blessing” in Thai, the word ‘porn’ has triggered some negative response earlier. I have seen a stomper getting really worked up with the restaurant name, which may be a lil uncalled for.

Could it be because of the tagged slogan “Sexy.Thai.Food”? *SHRUGS* I would rather think of it as a way of advertisement.

At Porn’s, they cook their Thai soups and curries ONE BOWL AT A TIME to ensure that each dish is piping hot & fresh. All head chefs at their outlets are from Thailand – Authenticity!

I’m here at the Star Vista outlet!

That’s me with my OpenRice.com tattoo sticker, ready for some hot, thai food!

Tom Yum Goong (Tom Yum with Prawn), $10.90 – $12.90

Clear Tom Yum Soups are always so deceiving – They look so mild & harmless, but get you panting from the spiciness. The soup is served in a traditional charcoal steamboat, so classic! Tom Yum Goong tastes a lil sour, which is really appetizing!

I love spicy food, I love soups & I love how hot & cheap this simply is.

Tom Kha Talay (Coconut Soup with Seafood) , $10.90 – $12.90

Same presentation as the Tom Yum Goong, but quite opposite in taste. In my opinion, it is as spicy as the above, but the “creaminess” (coconut) seemed to sooth the tongue a bit.

Despite not being a fan of any creamy food or soups, I found myself reaching for a second serving.

Gai Ga Thiam (Deep Fried Chicken with Garlic), $8.90

So crispy & perfectly done. It tastes like fried chicken bones – yes it’s as crunchy as that. This is the dish most people keep reaching out for. Definitely something I will order again the next time I visit.

Pak Boong Fai Daeng (Thai Prawn Paste Kang Kong), $7.50

You will never NOT see Kang Kong in any Thai menu. Nothing so fantastic until I have a paragraph to describe cos most taste the same to me. Good thing? It’s cooked enough. I hate it when I eat any Kang Kong with the stems still hard, sometimes I thought they are serving salads instead.

Gang Kaew Gai (Green Curry with Chicken), $10.90

Porn’s signature Thai Green Curry’s base are made from the most authentic Thai ingredients, blended into a homemade paste.

A pity that I only had a bite of it, but I do remember that it didn’t taste too bad. The curry isn’t overly coconut-milk-laced, pretty accepting for my taste buds.

Kapow Moo (Stirred-fried Minced Pork with Basil Leaves), $8.50

I like minced meat cos it’s “bite-size”. This stirred-fried dish is yet another must-have in Thai menu. Taste extremely home-made & warming too.

Khao Pad Sapparod (Pineapple Fried Rice), $10.90

Are you a big eater? If no, I would suggest that you share this plate of Pineapple Fried Rice. The prawns are big & fresh. Cashew nuts & pork floss added a pleasuring taste to this!

Pad Thai Talay (Seafood Pad Thai), $10.90

Pad Thai is one of the dishes that I MUST eat whenever I visit Thailand! This resembles stir-fried kway-teow, only that the noodles used in this is more springy.

Some refreshing drinks! I tried the Nam Takai (Lemongrass drink) at $4.50.

Khao Niew Mamuang (Sticky Rice with Mango), $9.90

Check out the donald duck alike presentation! *hehe*

The sticky rice is more sticky than any other I’ve tried in Thailand (only ate twice I think). I like!

Khao Niew Turian (Sticky Rice with Durian), $9.90

First time trying sticky rice with durian! Don’t judge by its appearance! Not a pretty sight, but it’s even better than the mango one!
